Use DynDns Updator with another service (zoneedit)

Is it possible to use the dyndns updator mac client with another dynamic dns service? I have seen some guides on the internet that describe the process, and some that even include the config file to use, but those guides are for the windows client, so they refer to n .ini file that doesn't appear to exist in the mac client.

In particular I want to use it with zoneedit, and zoneedit has an xml file with the config information, but that is apparently for an older version of the client.

Neither of the current official clients have configuration files in that way, I suspect that the DynDNS written clients are hard-coded to use the official DynDNS update host.

You can still download the old v2 client from the download page, otherwise I believe that ddclient can run on the Mac.
