It seems DynDNS charges a lot more than other competing services such as dnsmadeeasy.com. Are the paid services of DynDNS that much better to justify the higher cost? Anyone switched from other services such as dnsmadeeasy to DynDNS? Why did you switched to DynDNS?

There are too many plans to make a blanket statement, but in general the key differentiator is that with DynDNS you can update the IP of any hostname in your domain with an update client. Once you move into the Dynect range then you can create a username and password combination that can only update the specified hostname.
They're also, in my experience, run a very available service, even during the DDOS attacks I've never had any problems. That's not something that every provider can manage.
