An MX record is not required for sending email, the problem is usually that you are trying to send email directly from a dynamic IP, rather than relaying it through your ISP or another mail server.
If you're running your own mail server you'll need to create a second hostname that resolves to the same IP address. Then you'll need to set it as the MX for
rakot.ath.cx (since Dynamic DNS doesn't allow you to set a hostname as it's own MX). Otherwise set the MX to the hostname of the mail server for your domain.
